Learning east Asian languages like Chinese and Japanese can be too difficult for English speakers. However, as students master the various methods for learning these languages, they can finally pick them up quickly.

If you have never learned Cantonese, congratulations! You only need to do is clear up the thinking method of your native language, treat yourself as a piece of blank paper, and rewrite the new language, then, learning Cantonese is very easy!

Why does Cantonese easy to learn?

The grammar rules In Cantonese are easier

Do you find it difficult to use proper grammar? Well, I know this is a problem that language learners face. What if I told you that you wouldn’t need to worry about verb tenses to learn Cantonese? Cantonese grammar is rather simple, and unlike the Romance languages, it lacks gender. Also unnecessary is studying a chart of verb conjugations. Just take it simple, please!

We don’t have tenses (past, future, past perfect, etc.) like English, nor do we have grammatical gender like French.

The grammar of Cantonese is arguably the most straightforward feature of the tongue. The verbs are in the s-v-o word order and do not change according to the subject or tense. There are only a few basic grammatical rules that are easy to understand and use.

The Expressions In Cantonese Are Direct

There are certain languages that have numerous speech patterns. If they wish to be professional, informal, or polite, they can speak in a variety of ways. This is not how Cantonese works. Cantonese speakers are blunt in how they convey their emotions. Many Cantonese language students make an effort to seem more polite by adding words, but little do they realize that this only complicates or renders their statements incorrect. It’s not necessary to add polite phrases like “Please,” as it could be more significant to pay attention to the tone of voice and how you speak.

Unified Romanization System

In the past, Cantonese pinyin had Guangzhou style, Yale style, Jiaoyuan style, Huang Xiling style, Liu Xixiang style, and so on.

Since Cantonese has no unified authority, Cantonese is basically developed by the people.

Cantonese textbooks bought at bookstores may use any of the above pinyin systems, and some textbooks do not even indicate which pinyin is being used in the book. There are many learners who are confused and troubled.

Fortunately, the emergence of Jyutping broke the above dilemma.

The Cantonese Jyutping Scheme of the Hong Kong Linguistic Society, referred to as Cantonese Jyutping, is a romanization of Cantonese Pinyin developed by the Hong Kong Linguistic Society in 1993. The purpose of its formulation is to unify the confusion in the use of Cantonese Pinyin from all walks of life with a set of simple, reasonable, easy-to-learn, and easy-to-use Cantonese phonetic transcription schemes.

This plan is currently supported by many aspects such as Hong Kong education and computer processing of the computer. The Jyutping input method based on Cantonese has also developed quite maturely. In addition to Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan also have input systems using this solution. The plan has been widely recognized by the government, business, and academic circles.

Another benefit of Jyutping is one spelling to one tone, which has great advantages in computer input.
